This is Ilyaas!

December 22, 2005

Assalaam ‘Alaikum!

This is Ilyaas, my first born!

This is him when we were being discharged from the hospital! ( alomst 11 months ago!)He was delivered through an emergency caesarian coz of my sudden high blood pressure and anyway, we expected a c- section coz he was breech!
but holding him in my arms made me forget everything!
It made me realise I am not a little girl anymore, I am a mother, entrusted with a life, an opportunity to mould an individual, give the world another Ahmed Deedat, or another Bush, I will be accountable..it’s upto me…
Time I grew up… Subhanallah!
Ilyaas brought Jannah to my feet! Allahu Akbar! Alhamdu lillah!
Ya Rabb! Pls enable me to fulfill my responsibility with goodness and perfection! Ameen!

Watch out for more of his pix…

Setting Goals

December 19, 2005

Assalaam ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullah!
Reading Goals-1 and Goals-2 has motivated me a lot…
Forming Goals in our lives and striving to attain those goals is indispensable to a person’s life.
A life without a purpose, a goal is a life not worth living…Setting certain goals and then strategiic planning helps us in accomplishing those goals..Hard work is another factor which leads to success.
It’s ironical how we set goals for the worldly life, but when it comes to our eternal, never ending life, we are unsure of what direction to steer to…Most goals are confined to the realm of this world, we all want to have a good education, a big home , the latest cars and ofcourse we also want the very best for your kids…
But do we even have a goal for our after life? Sadly, many of us are so occupied with bettering our lives in this temporary abode that we often overlook and completely forget where we are heading…
The above mentioned artocles are very thought provoking, after reading them, I knew I had to set a certain goal which would contribute to securing me a place in JANNAH…Jannah is what I seek so desperately and every Muslim should too… I decided to pursue and undertake Qur’an memorisation with a firm resolve…I made some calculations, and if I even memorised 1/2 a page per day, I would, insha ALLAH, with His help, be able to finish memorising the whole Qur’an in 5 years time….and all it would take would be approximately 1/2 an hour a day,That much I can do, that much I should do, if I really seek Jannah…
We all ought to set either long term or short term goals to enhance and enrich our spiritual soul and to better our after Life which is after all, our true Life…Life on the earth is merely a test and we certainly cannot afford to engross ourselves with our wordly lives when our eternity is at stake, no sane person can justify doing that and yet, we all, are doing just that and regettably, without even realising that!
Some other goals we can pursue:
  • Praying on time if we are of those who delay our Salah or are negligent of it.
  • Concentrate on acquiring enough wealth(ofcourse earned my halal means) so we can build a Masjid, and let it be a Sadaqah Jariyah on our part rather than collecting the money to buy the latest car.
  • Try to learn and understand what the Holy Qur’an says(learning the translation), giving ourselves a year’s deadline.
  • Try to make a resolve about going for Hajj the next year.
  • Leave smoking within the next six months.
  • Memorise Qur’an.
  • Start wearing Hijab.
  • Work for Islam, engaging in Da’wah, helping people revert to Islam, that is the second most coveted goal for me.
  • Resolve to make our children good Muslims and for that we have to be their role models, thus we are required to arm ourselves with proper Islamic Knowledge and actions and learn how to instill Islamic values in our kids.

Ofcourse, these are just a few of the many, if we take it upom ourselves to accomplish our Islamic goals within a set period of time, we can succeed in changing our lives for the better, and Insha ALLAH, in the process, change the lives of those around us too.

May ALLAH guide us to The Straight Path! Ameen!

Ramadan Kareem!

October 16, 2005

Assalaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullah!
I’m back! I know I’ve been away from the blogging scene for too long now and I must get back to with a vengeance…so here I am…
Ramadan Kareem!
It’s our first Ramadan with lil Ilyaas…and boy! it is tiring! I never knew how much hard work a mother has to put in to look after and raise a child…
I hope this Ramadan turns out to be the best Ramadan so far for all of you(in all aspects), insha Allah…

Here is a Ramadan recipe I’d like to share:

BANANA AND DATE CRUMBLE

Ingredients

2 tsp butter( 40 grams)
4 bananas, peeled and sliced (600 grams)
2 cups dates, stone removed (265 grams)
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (50 ml)
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder (3 grams)

Crumble Ingredients

1 cup bread crumbs (120 grams)
1 cup oat ( 85 grams)
1/4 cup brown sugar (43 grams )
4 tbsp butter ( 80 grams)

Method

  • Saute bananas with butter in a saucepan and then add the dates, milk and cinnamon and stir.
  • Remove the mixture from heat and place in a square baking dish ( 23 cm/ 9 inch).
  • Mix the crumble ingredients and cover the date mixture with it.
  • Bake at 150 degrees (300 degrees Farenheit) gas mark 3 for 20 minutes.
  • Serve warm.

Enjoy!

Note :

During Ramadan, many women spend more than the usual time in their kitchens preparing an extensive meal. This is not what Ramadan is all about, Ramadan is about connecting yourself to Allah, about engaging in Ibadah, about puriying your soul, so sisters pls keep this in mind and try to minimise your time in the kitchen. Brothers, ease the burden on your mothers, wives, sisters, by helping out a lil bit ( Don’t consider it a belittling task, it was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahualayhiwasallam to help out in the household chores and do all his work by himself) and not making too many demands and being content with what has been served.

Jazakallah Kahyran!

Pls remember me in your Du’as too….

( Those who try out the recipe, do let me know how it turned out!)

Assalaamualaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatuhu!

I would like to share with you a poem a dear sister of mine, Sister Rytha, wrote for my son on the occassion of his birth….
Although its not perfect grammatically, it is very beautiful and very meaningful…something which comes straight from the heart…
May ALLAH reward her abundantly for her priceless gift…

My dear son……
You are the most beautiful gift that ever came in my life.
You are like cloudy shadow on a hot summer afternoon…..
Drop of water in barren desert…
My dear son….
The light of my eyes…
the comfort of my eyes…
Your small head
Your small fingers…
Your small legs…
You smooth skins
You silk hair…
Touch anyone softly…
Melt the heart of cruelness…

Your innocence face
That eyes…
Shining…
Clear…
So peaceful….
Twinkling…
Sparking with honesty
Crossing into the heart…
Slap of the hypocrisy
You small lips….. Smiling sweetly
Your giggle… like sweet symphony
Beautifully enlivens the dead heart
Polishes the dirt of the heart….
My dear son… You are so pure,
May this corrupt world never deceive you …
You will face so many challenges…
The world where so many wolves appear like sweet sheep
The devils use the mask of the fake piousness…
The world of money oriented… power oriented…desire oriented

Temptation everywhere …fills every corner of people’s heart
My dear son…
I dream you to be the rarest breed of man
A seed for the glory of Islam…
A shining pearl among the mud…
who will speak loudly with your beautiful character…
Man who speak straight from the heart
Eloquence speech with the soul….
the spiritMan with dignity like Prophet Yusuf Alaihiwassalam
Jail is better than wicked beautiful woman.
My Dear son…
Grow to be a real man
Follow your qudwah…Rasulullah saallahu alaihi wassalam
Follow his sunnah.. his teaching…
his beautiful characters…
The purest man
The kindest man
The most truthful and honest man
A very pleasant light-hearted man
A perfect model of modesty and humbleness
Never spoke loudly or in an unseemly manner
A loving family man with delightful humor
Always passed by the people quietly with a smile
Kept promises, never broke his word even with his enemies
The closest and The most beloved of Allah subhana wata’ala
My Dear son…
Follow the trait of his followers
Be like Umar ra.
The most consistent man…
The most honest man…
Always talk straight from the heart
Always defense the truth
Respected by his enemy
Loved by his close people..
Face turned become black due of hunger
To show the empathy to his people
A leader who did not sleep before he ensured the comfort of his people
Downto earth man who chased himself the run away camel

My Dear son
Be firm
But
Don’t be happy to be “rude”
Nor proud to be “rude”….
Like umar ……
his “rudeness”only made evils run to pass a way than his…
not his beloved ones
Man who used to be inspired with guidance
Man Allah lies the truth on his tongue and his heart
My Dear son
Be Gentle ahlul ibadah like Abu Bakar ra.
Man who will be called by all the gates of Jannah…
Be the beloved of the Most beloved One…

My Dear son
Be like man in the market of Madinah
Who jumped to sacrifice his soul in order to fight the man from Bani Qainuqa’
For the honor of his fellow sister
He Knew not her name
Knew not her beauty
Knew not her home
My dear son
Don’t mix the sincerity…. with the Cowardice
Don’t mix the real faith …with the stupidity
Grief shame lets your fellow sisters in trouble
Covered up by the lame excuse afraid of “slenderness”…

Be proud to be Moslem…
Speak loud with your beautiful character…
Man with dignity like Prophet Yusuf Alaihiwassalam
Combine the beauty figure and the beauty soul
Don’t fall on the laps of beauty wicked woman
Jail is better than wicked beautiful woman….
My Dear Son
Be knowledgeableLike Ali ra…
The mountain of the knowledge
The ocean of wisdom
The source of awesome inspirations
The leader of young
The brave soldier

My Dear son
Be sincere man
Like that “unknown” man in veil
who sacrificed his life to open the gate
To the victory of Islam
An unknown man
And still unknown
Will never be known
What does mean of name
What does mean of fame
All only the pleasure of his Lord
who the bestwho know the best what hidden beneath the deepest sea
who know the best what Hidden to the deepest of heart
who know the best what hidden and what concealed
His sincerity weight with jannah
His story will always be remembered
Be the mirror for them who thirst of fame
Oh My Dear son…
Am I annoying your sleep…
Forgive your mom….
You are still too small…
You world should be poured by joys and funs
With the language of simplicity
The world of innocent…
The world of purity..
The world of sincerity…
The world of honesty..
The world of serenity…

InshaAllah
When you wake up in the night
you will see your parents standing, bowing, prostrating in tahajud
you will hear only the beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur’an

when you grow up
InshaAllah
We will build our dream together

May Allah take care your heart
May Allah take care your mind
May Allah take care your eyes
May Allah take care your legs
May Allah take care your hands…
May Allah
Lighten your heart with the sweetness of faith
Strengthen you mind with the wisdom of knowledge
Make you be the one that He love
Gather you with people who love Him…..
May His Blessing always company you in ever single beat of your heart..
May He always protect you whenever you are

My prays…my mind
Will always company you in every step of you life… Ameen

A Tribute To Mothers

June 20, 2005

Assalaamualaykum, I received this in my email inbox today…

Those of you who still have your mothers with you, this is something to ponder and to witness as your life unfolds. Those of you who, no longer have your mothers with you, this may be something that sparks a memory for you. Those of you who are mothers, this is something for you to think about as you move through life with your children. Those who have no children, this is something to think about when you encounter children along your life’s path — you know mothering is not relegated to a biological parent only!!
The young mother set her foot on the path of life. “Is this the long way?” she asked. And the guide said: “Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning.”
But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried, “Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.”
Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, “Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.”
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children, “A little patience and we are there.” So the children climbed, and when they reached the top they said, “Mother, we would not have done it without you.” And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up at the stars and said, “This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I have given them strength.”
And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and the mother said: “Look up. Be Brave, Allah is with us.” And the children realised, and became firm, and it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the Mother said, “This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children the awareness of the Almighty.”
And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage.
And when the way was rough, they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond they could see that her time had come to return to her Lord. And mother said: “I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.” And the children said, “You will always be with us, Mother, even when you have gone to Allah.” And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, her eyes closed entering the next stage in life’s journey. And they said: “We cannot see her no-more, but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.” Your Mother is always with you.
She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she’s the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks, she’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she’s crystallized in every tear drop. She’s the place you came from, your first home, your best friend, your keeper of your secrets, always on your side; always to protect you; always to love you. And nothing on earth can separate you.. Not time, not space…not even death!
To all our mothers.
May we never take you for granted.
O Allah, forgive our parents as they looked after us when we were small. Grant them Jannat al-Firdaus, the Highest stage in Paradise. Give them that which is best in this world, the best in the hereafter, and Protection from the fire. O Allah, make them among the residents of Jannah, with the Prophets, the righteous, the muttaqun, and the martyrs.Ameen.
